General Cleaning Considerations

Purpose

Quick context before the steps: this is the facility-wide reference for how often every area of the school gets cleaned, what it's cleaned with, and whether custodial staff or floor staff own that task. Use it when you're not sure whether something is a daily job, a weekly deep clean, or someone else's area entirely.

Enclosures (kennels): deep cleaned and disinfected every day by custodians, with Triple Two, a pressure washer, and a water vacuum.
Outside areas: solid waste picked up and disinfected immediately as needed with Eliminator.
Training areas: swept and cleaned by custodians with a floor machine daily, deep cleaned once a week.
Trainer's offices: swept and mopped daily by custodians, organized daily by staff.

Steps

Floors

Use automatic scrubbing machines for routine floor cleaning that needs to move from area to area.
Use the pressure washing system for deep cleaning.
Use portable wet/dry systems and squeegees for deep cleaning where a pressure washer isn't practical.

Walls

Clean enclosure and daycare walls regularly. Hair, drool, dander, and body oils build up where dogs rub against them, and that buildup is exactly the environment bacteria, viruses, and fungi need to grow.
Use portable wet/dry systems, or power sprayers and squeegees, on walls.
Wipe walls down with Triple Two daily, and use Degreaser once a week.

Chemical safety

Never leave chemicals open around the dogs.
Never set a chemical near anything that could be ingested or licked, including food and treats.
Store and place chemicals with this in mind throughout the day. Most of what we use isn't extremely harmful to dogs in very small amounts, but that's not a reason to be careless with it.

Edge Cases

Cadence and owner are two separate questions. A training area gets a daily pass and a weekly deep clean, both by custodians; a daycare playroom gets an end-of-day disinfect by staff and a weekly deep clean by custodians.
If a piece of cleaning equipment (floor machine, pressure washer, water vacuum) breaks or stops working, that's a repair report, not a cleaning task. See Reporting Needed Repairs, Mail & Shipments.
If you're cleaning near food, treats, or anything a dog could reach, stop and move the chemical first. Don't finish the task with it sitting there.

Which areas are mine versus the custodians'?

Custodians handle the deep cleans and the daily machine passes across enclosures, training areas, trainer's offices, feed rooms, and office and reception. Floor staff handle immediate waste pickup, the end-of-day disinfect in daycare playrooms and play yards, bathing areas after each use, and the daily organizing in the spaces they work in.

Chemicals are the one rule that applies to everyone regardless of area: never left open around the dogs, never set near anything a dog will eat or lick.
