Dashboard Overview in Gingr

The short version, then the how: what each Dashboard tab shows, how to search and group dogs, and what our custom icons mean.

Purpose

The Dashboard is where you see who is on site, who is expected, who is going home, and what each dog and owner needs, all at a glance. This SOP covers the main tabs first, then how to search and group dogs, then what our custom icon set means, since that icon vocabulary is specific to Partners Dogs and is not something Gingr documents on its own.

At a Glance

  • Notice, Expected, and Going Home are the main status tabs; Expected shows dogs due in but not yet checked in, Going Home shows scheduled departures.
  • You can search any tab by dog or owner name instead of scrolling the full list.
  • Grouping and the overview view show daily check-in and check-out counts, plus how many dogs are staying overnight, across Play Time, Training Camp, Behavior Camp, Boarding, and other services.
  • Icons carry real operational meaning: behavioral icons (like "people aggressive"), admin icons (like "senior trainers only" or a yellow card for a slow-moving dog), and owner icons (like VIP, industry professional, or a note about a sensitive conversation) are all visible on hover and editable from the dashboard.

Steps

Reading the Main Tabs

  1. Check Expected for dogs due to arrive that have not checked in yet.
  2. Check Going Home for dogs scheduled to leave that day.
  3. Use the checked-in, unconfirmed, and waitlisted tabs, plus the pet parent portal requests tab, for anything not covered by Expected or Going Home. Notice is lower priority than the others.
  4. Search within any tab by typing part of a dog's or owner's name; for example, typing part of a name under Expected surfaces that dog's arrival details for today without scrolling the full list.

Grouping and the Overview

  1. Group the dashboard by animal info, owner details, program participation, lodging, recent report cards, or services offered, whichever view answers the question in front of you.
  2. Use the overview tab for the day's total check-ins, check-outs, and overnight stays across the facility.
  3. Switch to the detailed calendar view to see checked-in and checked-out status by service (Play Time, Training Camp, Behavior Camp, Boarding, and others); any dog staying overnight is marked as such.

Reading and Adding Icons

  1. Hover over any icon on a dog's or owner's entry to see what it means; system icons cover things like a dog's age, appointment details, a first-time-reservation star, and a red icon for missing immunizations.
  2. Behavioral icons flag something the next handler needs to know, such as "people aggressive."
  3. Admin icons flag an operational restriction or note, such as "senior trainers only" or a yellow card for a slow-moving dog; a luggage icon flags items the dog brought that need tracking.
  4. Owner icons flag something about the client: an industry-professional marker (vet or trainer), a note about their car for faster pickup, a note for a sensitive or challenging conversation, a VIP or detail-oriented label, or standard indicators for a card on file or package credit.
  5. Add or edit an icon directly from the dashboard once you understand what it means and when it applies.

Edge Cases / Troubleshooting

An icon's meaning is not obvious

Do not guess, especially for a behavioral or admin icon tied to safety, like "people aggressive" or "senior trainers only." Icons are visible on hover, so check the tooltip before you act on it.

A search comes up empty

Confirm the spelling and whether the dog is actually checked in for that tab and day before assuming it is a records problem; a dog booked for tomorrow will not show under today's Expected tab.

Which tab should I be living in

Expected and Going Home, mostly, plus checked-in, unconfirmed and waitlisted reservations, and pet parent portal requests. Notice is the one tab the source calls out as not crucial.

Vendor Reference

Gingr documents the generic dashboard layout in the articles below. Our custom icon set is a Partners Dogs configuration that Gingr does not cover, so the meanings above are the reference for that part.

Who to Ask

If an icon still does not make sense after checking the tooltip, or the dashboard still feels confusing after a shift or two, loop in your manager for a live walkthrough rather than guessing.
